Lana Del Everything

Is it a wedding or a funeral? This is the question I ask myself over and over every time I watch Lana Del Rey's latest video for Ultraviolence.  Like many other people in the world, I am obsessed with Ms. Del Rey and everything she stands for... which is basically contradiction.  She gives you modern retro.  She has created a career via youtube with videos straight outta a 1960's home made Super 8 movie.  She is all fake lips and big hair and ghetto nails, but somehow she gets the joke too.  And I love that her latest album is named after an insanely violent movie about the future from the 70's.  And the album is basically one long love sick song.  Somehow, even through all of the pretense she fronts, I feel like she is in on the joke.  I feel like she is making fun of all of the hollywood and celebrity and "true love" and "pretty girl" parables our current culture feeds on...that she is basically calling it all out as bullshit.  Hey, maybe it's wishful thinking.  But somewhere in all of the story and imagery and fantasy Lana is creating, I think she is putting a magnifying glass up to some double standards and romantic ideas that are maybe not so romantic in the real world.

Or maybe she's just all surface and vapid? Either way I am addicted to her music and videos and cannot get enough of her twisted fantasy.  "Ultaviolence" inspired me to bring you guys my fave wedding dresses, veils and shoes for now.  So if you are planning a wedding or just got engaged, these are my faves and please take note of the amazing veil Lana is wearing in the above vid.  Ok, I will shut up now.
