J'Amie La Vie by Jacquemus

Simon Porte is a 24 year old Southern French borne new establishment fashion baby.  His collection is endearingly names after his mother, Jacquemas, who inspired him to drop out of fashion school and start his line when she passed away suddenly in 2008.  The line was launched in 2009 and he was off to the races.  Mr. Porte writes a film each season with his long time collaborator Bertrand le Pluard and THEN designs his clothes! Love that. He had been working at the Paris Comme Des Garcons store until last year to float the collection.  The Jacquemas collection caught my eye because of it's perfect mix of suburban youth and French sophistication.  I love the simplicity of the clothes and the color palettes and the fabrics.  Again, these days "easy" or "casual" luxury seems to be all anyone wants to wear.  And I think Simon is riding the line of youth culture and luxury perfectly with his Jacquemas collection.  Excited to see what he shows next in Paris in October.
